Vice-Prime Minister and
Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands, Mauritius
·             Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo was candidate in the election of universal suffrage in May 2005.
·             She was elected and served as Member of the Mauritius National Assembly from 2005 – 2010.
·             She stood as candidate again in the last general elections which were held on 10th December 2014.
·             She was elected and appointed as Minister of Social Security, National Solidarity and Reform Institutions from 22nd December 2014 to 23rd January 2017.
·             She was thereafter appointed Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare from 24th January 2017 to 15th November 2017.
·             She is now the Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands.
·             She has been a Solicitor registered on the Roll of the Supreme Court of Mauritius pursuant to the Law Practitioners Act, a legislation governing the practice of law in Mauritius.
·             She has more than 25 years standing with experience in family matters and appeared in all courts of Mauritius, including the Supreme Court and the Family Division of the Supreme Court.
·             She has given expert legal opinion on family matters in proceedings before English Court on a number of occasions.
·             She has also been a parliamentarian observer of the general elections held in Zambia in 2007 and in Seychelles in 2015.
