According to the normal procedures, applicants are informed that they have TWO options for the payment of Waste Carrier Licence Fee, either yearly or daily, as provided in the Third Schedule of the Local Government (Dumping and Waste Carrier) Regulations 2003.
The Additional information required to be furnished by the applicant deals with
(i) the registration of the vehicle
(ii) the fitness of the vehicle
The vehicle of the applicant has to satisfy the following criteria for the award of a licence:
(i) The lorry basket (caisson) for waste carriers should not be less than 150 cm high, and equipped with raised metals sheets.
(ii) For vehicles carrying organic waste (domestic, hotel, green wastes, etc…) a proper leachate-containing device should be provided.
(iii) The vehicle should be preferably a tipper.
(iv) The vehicle should be provided with a proper tarpaulin to cover the wastes during transit.
(v) The vehicles should be registered with the NTA as a Private B or as a Public A Carrier.
The applicant to fulfill the criteria mentioned above and once the requirements are met, according to the applicant, he has to report this to the Waste Carrier Unit at the JAICA Building, in order to obtain an appointment for examination of this vehicle.
An appointment is fixed at the Champ de Mars, where Enforcement Officers carry out a Waste Carrier Inspection of the vehicle.
APPLICANT HAVING SATISFIED THE CONDITIONS
The applicant, who has satisfied all the criteria, will be awarded a licence in the form provided in the Fourth Schedule
of the Local Government (Dumping and Waste Carrier) Regulations 2003
upon recommendation of the Enforcement Officer and upon approval of the Minister of Local Government
APPLICANT NOT HAVING SATISFIED THE CONDITIONS
The applicant, failing to meet the necessary requirements, is given a further delay to satisfy all the criteria
